Rhodes Named Truland CAO

Reston, VA –The Truland Group Inc. today announced the appointment of Bennett Rhodes as Chief Administrative Officer for the nation’s ninth largest electrical contractor.  Rhodes has 19 years of experience in the commercial construction market and has been employed by Truland since 1997.  Most recently, he held the position of Vice President and General Manager for Truland Group companies BKTruland Electric and PelBern Electric.

As Chief Administrative Officer, Rhodes will oversee the areas of Corporate Policy, Human Resources, and Risk Management.  He will also continue to lead the BKTruland Electric and PelBern Electric business units.

Truland Appoints Clay Forehand Safety Director

Reston, VA –The Truland Group Inc. today announced the promotion of Clay Forehand, CSP to the position of Director of Safety for the nation’s ninth largest electrical contractor.  Forehand is a 16-year veteran of the commercial construction market and has been employed by Truland since 2009.  During his tenure, he has been responsible for safety policy development and oversight for more than $80M in construction projects annually. 

Says Chief Operating Officer Sean Gourlay, “Safety is vital to the continued well-being of our workforce and to The Truland Group’s success as a contractor.  I’ve seen the results that Clay has delivered as part of our safety department and have the utmost confidence in his ability to now lead that department.” 

Forehand earned a Master of Science degree in Loss Prevention and Safety  and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.  He holds a Certified Safety Professional credential from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Truland Appoints Bryan Inglish BIM Director

Reston, VA –The Truland Group Inc. today announced the promotion of Bryan Inglish to the position of BIM Director for the nation’s ninth largest electrical contractor.  Inglish is a 10-year veteran of the commercial electrical construction industry and has been employed by Truland since 2004.  As BIM Director, Inglish will lead a 15-person team responsible for the production and coordination of 3D electrical installation models to support Truland’s $350M+ project portfolio.

Says Senior Vice President of Project Development, Keith Bush, P.E., DBIA, “During his tenure, Bryan has played an important role in many of Truland’s mission critical building projects.  He has been a leader in implementing 3D modeling and coordination applications and practices.  As Director of BIM, he will ensure that Truland remains at the forefront of applying building modeling technologies to our field processes to enhance productivity and the quality of our work.” 

Inglish is a licensed Journeyman Electrician in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He graduated Valedictorian of the JATC Electrical Apprenticeship program and has completed college level coursework in graphic art and design at Alleghany College.  He is an evening instructor in CAD I and CAD II for the JATC Electrical Apprenticeship program.

Scott Named Baltimore Service Manager

Alexandria, VA –Truland Service Corporation today announced the hiring of Anthony “Tony” Scott to lead the firm’s Baltimore operations.  He brings to the position 28 years of experience in the maintenance and construction of commercial facility electrical systems and is a Master Electrician in the State of Maryland.

According to Truland Service Vice President Ron Russell, “We’re very happy to have Tony leading our Baltimore office.  He’s very well-respected in the industry and has been performing and managing this kind of work for nearly 30 years.  He knows all of the technical aspects of the work as well as how to satisfy the customer.”

ENR Names Truland Among Largest U.S. Contractors

Reston, VA – Engineering News Record (ENR) has listed The Truland Group Inc. in its annual ranking of the Top 600 Specialty Contractors in the United States.  The rankings, which are based upon 2011 revenues, place Truland at #12 among electrical contractors and at #30 among all trade contractors.  In 2011, the firm achieved revenues of $327M from new construction, renovation, and maintenance contracts for mission critical, federal, health care, mass transit, and other large-scale facilities and infrastructures.  This is Truland’s ninth consecutive year on the ENR list.

Truland CFO Matthew Gentile said, “Given the challenging economy, being named one of the largest U.S. electrical contractors again this year is especially gratifying.  We owe our ability to achieve this level of success to our customers and employees.  Our customer’s loyalty and ongoing faith in our team’s ability to deliver drives Truland’s success every day.”

Truland Garners Three Washington Contractor Awards

Reston, VA - The Associated General Contractors of Washington DC has recognized three Truland projects with Washington Contractor Awards.  The award-winning projects are Kaiser Permanente-Gaithersburg, Maryland Live Casino, and NRG FedEx Field Photovoltaic Energy Project.

Says Chief Operating Officer Sean Gourlay, “The DC construction market has some of the most advanced and impressive facilities anywhere.  What makes the work that Truland does exciting is seeing these buildings come together and working with the sophisticated technologies that go into them.  We’re honored to have been a part of these great projects and appreciate this recognition.”

The annual Washington Contractor Awards honor exceptional construction projects in several categories including new construction, renovation, interior, heavy industrial, and sustainable.  Entries are judged by a panel comprised of A/E/C industry members who evaluate the submitted projects with regard to quality of workmanship, project management, safety, timeliness, and owner satisfaction.  The awards will be presented at a formal ceremony tonight at DAR Constitution Hall.

Reston, VA –EC&M magazine ranked the Truland Group Inc. ninth on its annual listing of the nation’s top 50 electrical contractors.  The rankings, which are based upon 2011 revenues, place Truland in the list’s top 10 for the second consecutive year.  In 2011, the firm achieved revenues of $327M from new construction, renovation, and maintenance contracts for mission critical, federal, health care, mass transit, and other large-scale facilities and infrastructures.

Truland Among DC’s Largest Private Companies

Reston, VA –The Washington Business Journal listed the Truland Group Inc. in its annual ranking of the largest private companies in the DC Metro area.  Truland was ranked 34th out of 100 firms.  Rankings were based upon annual revenues, with the Truland Group achieving $327M in sales in 2011 from construction projects such as CityCenterDC, the FDA CBER Labs, the Inova South Patient Tower, the Metro Silver Line Extension to Dulles, and the Washington Marriott Marquis.

Truland Supports Team River Runner

Reston, VA –The Truland Group, Inc. is a kayak sponsor for the 2012 Team River Runner Biathlon, underwriting one of 40 kayaks that will participate in the September 23 biathalon event in Washington D.C.  The annual event benefits Team River Runner, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping active duty military personnel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan who are recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Truland Group Chief Operating Officer Sean Gourlay says, “Team River Runner’s mission is very close to our hearts.  We’ve seen the need for care and rehabilitation through our work building and expanding military and VA hospitals from the Ft. Matthew Gentile Joins Truland Group as CFO

Reston, VA—The Truland Group is pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Gentile, P.E., MBA as Chief Financial Officer.  He brings to the position 20 years of experience in program management and operational and financial leadership for firms with annual revenues ranging from $50M to $30B.  Prior to joining The Truland Group, Mr. Gentile was Chief of Project Controls for Alstom, Ltd.

Robert W. Truland, President/CEO/Chairman of The Truland Group said “Matthew is an excellent addition to our executive team.  His construction industry experience and strong business and financial acumen will help us build on our long record of success.”

Mr. Gentile is a registered Professional Engineer, Certified Management Accountant, and certified Project Management Professional.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University, and a Finance MBA from the Yale School of Management.
